If you're looking for a Bulgarian village house that's genuinely ready to move into, with all the hard work already done, then this one in Gorno Belevo is a fantastic shout. The owners have put more than a decade of passionate work into renovating this property, and it absolutely shows. Everything here feels solid and well cared for.

From the moment you step through the gates into the walled courtyard, you can see the effort that's gone into making this place special. You've got the main yellow house, a separate white guest house with two double bedrooms that each have their own en-suite shower room (the previous owners ran it as a B&B), and a lovely summer house with its own fitted kitchen and a dining room under a beamed ceiling. There's a big stone barn and a garage too. The courtyard itself is a really good size, mostly laid with neat gravel, edged with low stone walls, and features some smart paved patio areas and flagstone paths. One room is plumbed and wired as a kitchen but has deliberately been left unfitted, so you get to choose your own rather than inherit somebody else's. The two en-suite shower rooms in the guest house are finished and ready to go, and the family bathroom in the main house is just being completed now, with a new boiler and a glass shower screen.

Gorno Belevo is a quiet, traditional Bulgarian village of around 290 people in the Chirpan hills, the kind of place where you can really slow down and enjoy the pace of life. The neighbouring village has a petrol station with a shop just five minutes away, and the town of Chirpan, twelve kilometres down the road, has supermarkets, banks, medical facilities and restaurants for everything else. Stara Zagora and Plovdiv are both well within an hour, Plovdiv airport with its direct flights to London is about a 45-minute drive, and Sofia is around two and a half hours.
